Getting to the pier was no problem at all as it was very easy to find. All you have to do is make your way to the ever most famous and well-knows Fisherman's Village or "Talad Bophut". Just enter the lovely arch at the entrance and you'll automatically see the ship looming before your eyes as you walk towards the sea.
There you are met by friendly and professional staff who guide you around the boat and give you an introduction on what you can expect from the tour and which facilities are on-board.
Then we get ready to set sail. The crew skillfully raise the impressive, stylish sails of the Red Baron and off we go on a wonderful journey to the magical island Koh Phangan and it's little sister Koh Ma where you can snorkel and swim to heart's desire.
You can enjoy your meals at the cozy indoor cabin. |
Free soft drinks and water are readily available all throughout the trip, but you can buy your favorite cocktails, beers or other alcoholic beverages and very affordable prices.
The Red Baron is a very comfortable ship with a splendid upper deck and cozy sunbeds for you to lie on and relax, chat and sip your cocktail, take in the breathtaking scenery and catch a beautiful suntan while you're at it.
The journey to the islands is simply fantastic as you feel the breeze through your hair and watch the islands come more and more into focus, the water looks very inviting to have a nice, refreshing swim.
First stop is Koh Ma, a gorgeous little island where the corals are teeming with aquatic wildlife. There are plenty of snorkeling masks and life jackets available for those who want to explore the world under the sea.
If fishing is your favorite activity, you can also request a fishing road and gear to try your hand at catching some fish.
Personally I can't wait to jump into the crystal clear light blue water and see what kinds of exotic fish I will see. There's a lot of coral as well. My 4 y/o daughter loves to splash around and is excited to see fishes swimming all around her.
Koh Phangan is only a few meters away so we can take a nice stroll on the beach as well, or the friendly kayak taxi man will ferry you to whichever part of the island you wish to go.
After this refreshing swim, a lavish lunch is waiting aboard with delicious barbecued seafood and meat and some healthy Thai vegetable dishes. Once again drinks are readily available all through the journey. This swimming sure got my appetite worked up.
In the meantime we set sail to the most poplar Had Rin Beach on the other side of Koh Phangan. Another lovely scenic route along the coast of this idyllic island.
Once there, you can again feel free to splash in the blue waters and have a swim or for the brave ones, dive into the ocean from the ship's deck.
My dad actually caught a few fishes while we couldn't resist the temptation of splashing around and doing a few breaststrokes.
Then it's time to head back to our point of origin, Koh Samui, Fisherman's Village. The breeze is very lovely at this time so you feel refreshed on the way home just on time to see a splendid sunset on arrival.
